African American Read-In
On Monday, February 5, 2007, CAIS and CAMS participated in The Sixteenth National African American Read-In Chain. Hosted by Charlotte Benson, Library Media Specialist, Joanne Shulman, CAIS Reading Specialist and Janet Smith, CAMS Reading Consultant, the Read-In theme was a celebration of the works of African American authors and illustrators of children's books. Guest readers shared various stories and poems with students throughout the day in the Library Media Center. At the end of the day the 2007 African American Read-In Report Card was submitted to the Black Caucus of the National Council of Teachers of English joining us with the million of other readers across the United States, West Indies and African countries who celebrated this event as part of the annual Black History Month activities.

Retired teacher, and poet, Mr. John Shaw, reads selections from his own works.
Ms. Tanya Moorehead, CAMS teacher, shares a favorite story of hers.
