Sixth Grade Social Studies
Students in Ms. Robison's class were asked to use their continent knowledge to create the following project. Check it out below! Continents' Project
Students randomly chose a continent to do the following with:
- 1. Make a map for it
- 2. Write 10 interesting facts about it
- 3. Write a paragraph telling why they would or would not like to visit that continent based on the information they've researched.
- 4. Make illustrations related to the continent.

The sixth grade Social Studies curriculum focuses on Ancient World History. Through studying the past, our students will see how achievements of ancient cultures in areas such as government, religion, and technology helped shape our modern world. The ancient civilizations studied in sixth grade are Mesopotamia, Egypt, Nubia, China, Greece, and Rome.

Students were asked to create a model of a Mesopotamian City-State. The following models show an accurate example of what cities would have really looked like. Notice the ziggurat is located in the center of the city. The Mesopotamians believed that their gods would live in the top chamber and watch the people. The city would have had a large wall around it and maybe even a moat to keep out invaders looking for food. On the outside of town farmland would have been abundant with irrigation canals connecting to the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers.
