Metacomet News

Metacomet was pleased to welcome Mr. Dustin Kach and Mr. Adam Harris this week as part of our current third grade unit of study. In this unit of study our students are learning about plant and animal adaptations. They have been reading books about the different ways plants and animals change to meet their needs and survive. All classrooms have a carnivorous plant to observe and we were able to bring in guest speakers to help students learn about animal adaptations.
Mr. Kach visited and spoke to students about his job as an oceanographer and the ways he monitors plants and animals of the ocean and Mr. Harris brought in 20 reptiles and amphibians and spoke about their adaptations. Students and staff were impressed and excited by both presentations, they took notes and asked questions that led to a deeper understanding of animal adaptations. Students were also able to touch some of the reptiles and sea creatures Mr. Harris brought. If you have a third grader be sure to ask them what they learned about animal adaptations this week!
