Message to Parents
The Connecticut Mastery Test (CMT) and the Connecticut Academic Performance Test (CAPT) will be administered in March to all Connecticut students in grades 3-8 (CMT) and students in grade 10 (CAPT). The Modified Assessment System (MAS) will be administered to any student who is recommended by the Planning and Placement Team (PPT) in the student's Individualized Education Program (IEP). These tests are used by the district and the state to measure the achievement of our Bloomfield students and compare their skills to student scores statewide.
To prepare your child, all students have been reading, writing, and solving math problems with the expectation for performance at Goal and Advanced. These skills address what all educators want students to know and be able to do at each grade level.
Your support at home will contribute to your child's success in school and on the test.
You can support your child by:
1. Reading your own books at home to show that reading is important and enjoyable.
2. Encouraging your child to get a good night's sleep throughout the two week test period.
3. Reminding your child that effort and hard work are the best ways to show how smart he/she is.
On behalf of the Bloomfield Schools, thank you for your support.
